Benefit of Become Vegan
"Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances of survival of life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." said Albert Einstein. Some people think that vegetarians are wasting their life, because they cannot enjoy their life like other people in eating. Vegetarians do not eat meat, especially for vegan (type of vegetarian), they do not eat anything that comes from animal, like: meat, dairy product, honey, some bread (contain yeast), white sugar (it processed with bone char) so they cannot eat anything they want, even use cloth that made by animal, like wool. They just eat: vegetables, fruits, seeds, legumes, grain and food that specifically made for vegan. If vegan cannot enjoy their life in eating, why there is people still want to be vegan? People still wanted to become vegan because there are some benefits that they will get from being vegans, such as: health, physical, reduce body odor, financial, maintain longer life and good for environment.
Become a vegan can prevent some disease such as cholesterol and colon cancer. Cholesterol can cause by animal fat and dairy product (milk and egg yolk). That is the most food that contains fat, which can cause cholesterol. Vegans do not eat any animal and dairy product, so it’s helps them to prevent from cholesterol. Meat can cause colon cancer; there is research about this. They eat meat for 15 days, and the result is higher level of N-nitroso compounds that can increase colon cancer risk. Vegan always eats vegetables and never eats meat, so that can keep them away from cholesterol disease and colon cancer. Vegetables also high fiber food and high fiber can help to prevent colon cancer.
Being vegans also provide physical benefit, like lose weight and healthy skin.
According to Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D (specialty editor for the nutrition and healthy eating guide), “Research shows that adults and children who follow a vegetarian diet are generally leaner than non-vegan. This may be because a vegan diet typically includes less saturated fat and emphasizes more fruits, vegetables, whole grains and plant-based proteins — foods that are more filling and less calorie dense.” Vegan eats fruits and vegetables more than non-vegan people. Fruits and vegetables are containing a lot of Vitamin A (apple, carrot, tomato, spinach) and E (nut, avocado, and broccoli), those vitamin A and vitamin E helps to make skin become healthier. Randi is one of many people that feel vegan’s physical benefit, she lost her weight and have healthy skin. After six months she become a vegan, she lost 30 pounds from 167pounds become 135 pounds, and she do not need to use any acne medication for her back and scrub her back with special acne soap, because her acne is decreasing day by day when she is become vegan. Being vegan really helps her in losing weight and has a healthy skin.
Body odor can reduce by vegan. Red meat is one of the main cause of body odor. There is a research in 2 weeks between meat eaters and non-meat eaters’ body odor. Their body odor was collected and rated by 30 women, and the best odor is for the non-meat eaters. They found that non-meat eater body odors are more attractive, more pleasant, and less intense. We can see that vegan vegetarian have a good body odor than non-vegan, because vegan do not eat meat. There is a body odor forum, the place that people can share about body odor, and i found Fuggle that reduce his body odor by being vegan, he stop to eat meat at the first, and he realize that he still have body odor, than he start to stop eat dairy product, his body odor totally gone.
Vegan can have a longer life. The most common problems why people die are heart disease, heart disease can be cause blood pleasure disease. They way to prevent it is with change our eating from meat eater become vegetables eater. Why vegetables? Because vegetables containing anti-oxidant that can help body to repair some damage cause aging, vegetables also can avoid bad fat and other unhealthy food that we eat, vegetables will fill our body with few calories that our body needs too. I have found, George Bernard Shaw, he is a playwright, critical, and political activist. He was born on 26 July 1856 and died at his 94 years old, which is 2 November 1950. He had been a vegan for 70 years and he got longer life because he is vegan.
We can save our money too when we become vegan. Most all the main ingredients of a vegan diet are cheap. For example, as all known, meat’s price is expensive than vegetable price. 5 small slices beef at Jusco cost RM5.60 (for 1-2 people) and a big cabbage at Jusco cost RM3.00 (for 2-3 people), this we can see, if we eat beef, per serving, it cost around RM2.80 and if we eat vegetable, per serving cost around RM1 only. Vegan can save RM1.80. After we become vegan for a long time, and calculate it, our money really saved by being vegan.
Vegan also can help our environment in give more space to human needs and protect planet from pollution. Land + water = crops! Land + water + crops = live stock! We use our land to plant crops and use water to watering the plants and it’s become crops for food. Land also use for our place to live and breed animals. When we are vegan, we don’t eat meat (animals), the effect is we don’t need to breed so many animals as our food. That’s mean the land and water that we use to breed animals can use for our self, human. Beside that, the land and water that we used to plant crops for animals feed, we can use to plant crops for human’s food. Example: we need 1.799 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef in California, and we only need 18 gallons of water to produce one apple. That’s mean in the same amount of water, we can produce around 100 of apples. Vegan help reduce pollution, more and more vegan, factory farms are lesser. Factory farm can pollute our rivers and harming delicate eco-systems. The animal’s feedlots can contaminate nearby well water. According to a May 2003 article in New York Times, pig factory can cause air pollution, people around there feel headache, their children’s lungs suddenly close up and they must go to emergency room. The disease spread from air.
In conclusion, vegan are the most strict types of vegetarian, they are not only do not consume meat or any food that processed with animal part, they also do not use anything that comes from animal, like wool cloths, snake skin belt, buffalo skin bag, etc. even it seems so hard to follow the rule, nowadays so many people are become vegan, because being vegan it’s not so bad, it offers them so many of benefits, such as: prevent some diseases (cholesterol, colon cancer, etc); give good looking (weight lost and healthy skin); reduce body odor; have a longer life; save more money and help our environment (give more space for human needs and protect planet from pollution).
